HERE is how the NEW YORK Lying SLIMES, and the COWARDLY, lying Washington Post (both at the apex of the American press/media industry) use their clout and domination of the press, to DOWNPLAY any and all issues that reflect badly on their AUTHORITARIAN, pro-war, pro- big government, pro- Big Business, pro- CORRUPT FINANCE, PRO-TORTURE agenda.
In this case the NYT headline reads "Senate Leaders Opposes Interrogation Inquiry Panel."
Not only does the bad grammar indicate that the Times editors & publisher consider this story - and this issue - to be a THROW-AWAY story (it should of course read "Senate Leaders OPPOSE" not "opposes") but so too does the Times' posting of the story at their "TheCAUCUS.blogs.nyTimes.com" web address, instead of at their NYTimes.com main web address.
And, most importantly, the Times uses its FAVORITE New York/Washington DC bureaucratic, institutional news-speak "INTERROGATION INQUIRY PANEL" to mean "TORTURE and CRIMES Investigation" !!
The net affect, of course, is that were a reader to actually to glance at a news-stand front-page of such a BLAND and MISLEADING headline, they would have almost NO idea that such a headline would really mean:
"SENATE LEADERS _OPPOSE_ TORTURE INVESTIGATION" !!
..that BOTH cowering "Democrat" and Republican "leaders" support a TORTURE, CRIMES, & KANGAROO-courts WHITEWASH of the MURDERS of prisoners, in US custody, during serial TORTURE sessions at America's far-flung Torture (prisons) gulag - in some cases, with LIVE VIDEO FEEDS being piped in to Cheney & Bush's basement TORTURE DUNGEON (underground situation room) at the White House!
BUSH and Cheney WERE WATCHING LIVE VIDEO FEEDS of TORTURE SESSIONS - with US "interrogators" - TORTURERS! - FOLLOWING the "advice" and orders of Bush & Cheney to repeat or perform certain "interrogation tactics" - yet today, the Congress & Right-Wing press pretend that FEMALE PRIVATES who were CONVICTED in KANGAROO "abuse" courts, should bear ALL the blame, for Bush & Cheney's and John Yoo's and Don Rumsfeld's and PAUL WOLFOWITZ's TORTURE ORDERS !!
(Not only did BUSH and Cheney PERSONALLY view LIVE TORTURE FEEDS in their "secret" White House dungeon, but PAUL WOLFOWITZ _personally_ visited ABU GHRAIB PRISON just 2 or 3 weeks before the infamous TORTURE PHOTOS came out - and he was there PRECISELY to look in to the "effectiveness" of the so-called "GUANTANAMO TECHNIQUES" that Bush, Cheney, and Rumsfeld had SPECIFICALLY sent to Abu Ghraib, i.e. the onset of America's TORTURE REGIME at Abu Ghraib prison, of which the steady & systematic ABUSE practices that PRIVATES and non-commissioned officers (such as Srgt. Grannor) were later CONVICTED of, were merely a PRELUDE to the REAL TORTURE SESSIONS at the "SECRET" INTEL-WING of the Prison - INSPECTING THAT _TORTURE REGIMEN_ was PRECISELY the reason Paul Wolfowitz VISITED ABU GHRAIB PRISON on his inspection tour in 2003!

Senate Democratic leaders, joining forces with the Obama White House, said they would resist efforts by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and other prominent Democrats to create a special commission to investigate the harsh interrogation methods that the Bush administration approved for terrorism suspects.
